Gas Fires
Gas Fires
A gas fire gives you instant heat and a real flame at the touch of a button. It’s an easy way to make a room feel warm and lived-in, without the effort of a solid fuel fire.
Designed to suit both modern and more traditional spaces, a well-chosen gas fire becomes part of the room, not just something added to it. It looks right, works as it should, and gives you reliable warmth you can enjoy every day.

Inset Gas Fires
Inset gas fires fit neatly into a fireplace opening, making them a smart way to add warmth and style to any room. They bring the flame closer to the centre of the space, creating a cosy, inviting atmosphere without taking up extra room.
Ideal for both period homes and modern interiors, inset fires balance practicality with a touch of elegance. Their discreet design lets the fire itself become the focus, giving the room a natural sense of comfort and character.

Hole-in-the-wall Gas Fires

They work well in both modern and classic interiors, fitting naturally with the rest of the décor while adding a touch of style.
A hole-in-the-wall fire brings life to the space, creating a warm and welcoming corner that draws people in.

Most people choose a gas fire because they are cheaper to run than electric fires. They’re also a lot easier to maintain than wood or coal fires. There’s no need to haul materials up to your fire, no messing around lighting it and, most importantly, no constant cleaning of soot!
In general, it’s cheaper to run a gas fire than an electric fire. In fact, electricity is nearly 3 times more expensive than gas in 2022!
To work out exactly how much it costs to run a gas fire, you just need to know how much your gas costs per kW. Then, check how much the input rating to your gas fire is in kW, so how many kW of gas it uses per hour.
To work out the cost per hour, just times the input rating (so kW per hour) by the cost per kW. kW per hour x cost per kW = cost per hour
The UK has set a goal to reach net zero carbon emissions by 2050. That plan includes the 2025 Future Homes Standard, which will prevent any new homes built from being connected to the gas network. However, this doesn’t affect existing homes that already have a gas fire or boiler.
There is the suggestion that by 2035 there could be a ban on replacing gas fires or boilers, which you should consider when you purchase.
You should also consider that gas fires do emit carbon dioxide into the environment, so if eco-friendliness is a priority for you, you should get an electric fire instead.
No, you can get flueless gas fires here at Cantebury Fireplaces. A flueless gas fire uses a catalytic converter to remove the toxic gases, making it safe to have in the home.
You cannot remove a gas fire by yourself, but you can pay a Gas Safe registered engineer to remove it for you. It is illegal to attempt to remove it yourself due to the dangers posed by gas leaks or explosions. All of our installers here at Canterbury Fireplaces are Gas Safe registered, so we can remove your old gas fire and replace it with a new one.
